Alvin H. Edwards

Alvin H. Edwards, age 89, of Blackwell, Texas, passed away on Saturday, June 16, 2018 at Bronte Health & Rehab in Bronte, Texas.

Per his wishes, his body will be cremated. A memorial service will be held 2:00 P.M., Wednesday, June 20, 2018 at Blackwell First Baptist Church with Pastor Jeff White officiating. Arrangements are under the direction of Cate-Spencer & Trent Funeral Home.

Following the memorial service, there will be a Masonic service at the Hylton Masonic Lodge #884 AF & AM.

Alvin was born on November 28, 1928 in Milam County, Texas to Nathan Henry and Lila (Ketchins) Edwards. He married Dorothy Snead on August 16, 1955 in San Angelo, Texas. He was a longtime member of the Hylton Masonic Lodge #884 AF & AM, and also a longtime member of the Blackwell First Baptist Church. He was a life long farmer and rancher and also worked in the oilfield for many years before retiring.

He is survived by his wife, Dorothy Edwards of Blackwell, Texas, sons, Al Edwards of Blackwell, Texas and Lynn Edwards and wife Linda of Abilene, Texas and daughter, Vickie Meffert and husband Barry of Blackwell, Texas; numerous grandchildren and great grandchildren; brothers, Barkley Edwards of Austin, Texas, Melvin Edwards of Madisonville, Texas, Calvin Edwards of Georgia, and Danny Edwards of Marble Falls, Texas, and sister, Margie McGee of Marble Falls, Texas, and numerous nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, five brothers and sisters.
