Anita Louise Davis Poley, age 80, of Arlington, Texas, passed away on Monday, May 21, 2018, in Arlington.
Graveside service and burial will be held at 10 a.m. on Saturday, June 23, 2018, at Sweetwater Cemetery. Arrangements are under the direction of Cate-Spencer & Trent Funeral Home.
Anita was born March 18, 1938, in Sweetwater, Texas to Morris and Pauline (Hamilton) Davis, long-time residents of Sweetwater. She was raised in Sweetwater until the family moved to Arlington, Texas in 1955. Anita earned a BA degree in piano from North Texas State. She worked for Rice University in Houston, Texas, for many years before retiring to Arlington. She was a member of Pleasant Ridge Church of Christ. Anita enjoyed music throughout her life. She performed with both the Denver and Seattle Orchestras, playing clarinet and French horn. She loved vocal music as well, singing with both the Rice University Chorale and the Arlington Master Chorale. While singing with this group, she performed at Carnegie Hall, one of the highlights of her life.
Anita was preceded in death by her parents, Morris and Pauline Davis.
At the time of her death, she was survived by her brother, Ronald Davis and wife Jan of Arlington, Texas. Since then, Ronald passed away on Sunday, June 17, 2018. She is also survived by nephews, Brian Davis and wife Jenny of Burleson, Texas, and Lance Davis and wife Lisa of San Antonio, Texas; nieces, Amanda West and husband Michael of Dallas, Texas, and Tiffany Mosley and husband Matt of Ennis, Texas; six great-nieces; and step-children, Darah Smith and Russell Poley of Denver, Colorado.
