Anna Lavenia Jones, age 95, of Sweetwater, Texas, passed away on Saturday, February 14, 2015 at Rolling Plains Memorial Hospital.
Funeral Services will be 2:00 P.M., Wednesday, February 18, 2015 at Cate-Spencer & Trent Funeral Home Chapel with Mike Ensminger officiating. Burial will follow at Slater's Chapel Cemetery. Arrangements are under the direction of Cate-Spencer & Trent Funeral Home.
Anna was born on November 2, 1919 in Nolan, Texas to Ben and Emmie Bradberry. She graduated from Divide High School in 1938. She went one extra year to play basketball. Anna married Douglas F. Jones on June 17, 1944 in Wichita, Kansas. He went to war in Germany and she went to Lubbock and helped build war planes. She was a Rosie the Riveter. They were life long residents of Nolan County. She was a member of the Church of Christ in Nolan and Normandy Avenue Church of Christ of Sweetwater.
She is survived by her sons, Jerry D. Jones, and Mr. & Mrs. Stanley Jones, all of Sweetwater, Texas; two nieces and five nephews, granddaughters, Leasa Prano and husband Marvin, Crista Jones and Marcy Hall, all of Sweetwater, Texas and Teresa Mitchell and husband Glenn of Abilene, Texas; three step grandchildren, eleven great grandchildren, and five step great grandchildren, and four great great grandchildren and four step great great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Ben and Emmie Bradberry, her husband Douglas F. Jones on March 7, 1987, three sisters and three brothers.
Pallbearers will be grandsons.
Family will receive friends at the funeral home on Tuesday, February 17, 2015 from 6:00-8:00 PM.
