Archie was born on May 13, 1948 in Clovis, New Mexico. He was preceded in death by his parents, Milburn Lee “Buster” and Lahoma (Gordon) Burrough.
While Archie’s dad worked on the railroad, Archie and his parents lived in a train car so they could be together as a family. When Archie started kindergarten, the family settled in Clovis, New Mexico. There, he graduated from Clovis High school in 1966, and attended Eastern New Mexico University. In 1971, Archie ventured to Roscoe to help his grandpa run the Dairy Fluff. This change led to him becoming a police officer for the Sweetwater Police Department and meeting the love of his life, Mary Ann Miles. After his career as a police officer, he transitioned from putting people in jail to keeping people out of jail. He owned Archie’s Bail Bonds for 30 years where he was in civil service and ran the Western Union. To keep up to current events, Archie and a group of friends, drank coffee at the Ranch House every morning. When life would allow, Archie and his best friend Dr. Larry McEachern would go to the “farm” and hunt. If Larry was busy working, Archie would just go in the back door of the doctor’s office just to chat with Larry.
Archie and Mary Ann spent 50 wonderful years together. After 3 years of marriage, a little girl blessed their lives. Kristina “Kristi” Leeann was the apple of Archie’s affection. While Kristi brought him great joy, the addition of twin grandchildren, Kyle and Kaylee, doubled his love for his family. Archie had a passion for hunting and fishing. He loved the mountains, and took his family to Ruidoso, New Mexico every year. He was fun-loving and quick with a joke.
He is survived by his wife of 50 years, Mary Ann (Miles) Burrough of Sweetwater, Texas, his daughter, Kristi Martin and husband Geory, and twin grandchildren Kyle and Kaylee of Loraine, Texas.
