Arland Douglas (Doug) Hardin, age 65, of Sweetwater, Texas, passed away on Friday, July 23, 2021 at Hendrick Medical Center in Abilene, Texas.
Funeral services will be held 10:00 A.M., Thursday, July 29, 2021 at Cate-Spencer & Trent Funeral Home with Rev. Lester Cavitt and Rev. Mike Sells officiating, Burial will follow at Sweetwater Cemetery. Arrangements are under the direction of Cate-Spencer & Trent Funeral Home.
Doug was born on September 22, 1955 in Loraine, Texas to Arland Dee and Elizabeth Ann (Jackson) Hardin. He married Sharon Kaye Shifflett on July 25, l975 in Sweetwater, Texas. He worked as a Licensed Vocational Nurse at Rolling Plains Memorial Hospital for many years before retiring. He served in the U.S. Army National Guard and was also a longtime faithful member of First Apostolic Tabernacle.
He is survived by two sons, Robert Hardin and wife Emily of Abilene, Texas, and Joseph Hardin of Sweetwater, Texas, grandchildren, Dharma Hardin, Josiah Hardin, Darren Hardin, Aerith Hardin and Greyson Guelker, numerous nieces, nephews and cousins, including special niece, Kristie Guelker, sister, Lisa Rocha and husband Salomon of Abilene, Texas, and brother, Don Hardin and wife Mary of Bonham, Texas.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Arland Dee & Elizabeth Ann Hardin, wife, Sharon Kaye Hardin and two brothers, Ira Hardin & Clayton Dee Hardin.
Pallbearers will be Clint Appling, Sam Kamer, Mike Sells, Robert Hardin, Josiah Hardin, Joseph Hardin, and Darren Hardin.
Due to the nature of Doug's death, the family suggests any one attending his funeral service to wear a face mask. Face masks and hand sanitizer will be available.
