Arnulfo (Shooky) Gutierrez, age 56, of Sweetwater, Texas passed away on Thursday, July 14, 2011 at Sweetwater Healthcare Center.
A rosary will be held 7:00 P.M., Friday, July 15, 2011 at Cate-Spencer & Trent Funeral Home Chapel recited by Pauline Gauna and Connie Palacios.
Holy Mass of Christian Burial will be held 1:00 P.M., Saturday, July 16, 2011 at Immaculate Heart of Mary Catholic Church with Rev. Michael Rodriguez officiating. Burial will follow at Sweetwater Cemetery. Arrangements are under the direction of Cate-Spencer & Trent Funeral Home.
Shooky was born January 10, 1955 in Sweetwater, Texas to Alfonso (Chico) and Ignasia (Nancy) Gutierrez. He was a member of Immaculate Heart of Mary Catholic Church. He was self-employed as a rock mason for many years.
He is survived by his companion, Angelina Soto of Sweetwater, Texas; one son, Christopher Espino Reed and wife Amanda Ybarra of Sweetwater, Texas; six sisters, Mary Ham, Esther Castillo and husband Domingo; Herlinda Medellin and husband Anselmo; Lupe Gutierrez; Christina Salinas and husband Armando; all of Sweetwater, Texas; and Gloria McFadden and husband Allen of Dallas, Texas; six brothers, Rumaldo Gutierrez; Pete Gutierrez and wife Rosa; Dolores Gutierrez and wife Mary; Sammy Gutierrez; Robert Gutierrez, all of Sweetwater, Texas and George Gutierrez and wife Lisa of Andrews, Texas; two grandchildren, Chris Espino Reed, Jr. and Reanna Rockel Ybarra; numerous nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Alfonso T. (Chico) Gutierrez and Ignasia E. (Nancy) Espino Gutierrez; and one brother, Alfonso Gutierrez, Jr.
Pallbearers will be Domingo Castillo, Jr., Ruben Gutierrez, Ivan Gutierrez, Amado Cabrera, Ronnie Ham, Alex Gonzales, Louis Castillo, and Julian Moncada.
