Beatrice (Mendez) Ortiz

Beatrice Ortiz, age 79, of Sweetwater, Texas, passed away on Wednesday, March 28, 2012 at Rolling Plains Memorial Hospital.
Funeral Services will be held 10:00 A.M., Saturday, March 31, 2012 at Cate-Spencer & Trent Funeral Home Chapel with Jesse Ortiz officiating. Burial will follow at Roscoe Cemetery. Arrangements are under the direction of Cate-Spencer & Trent Funeral Home.
Beatrice was born February 17, 1933 in Karnes City, Texas to Lorenzo and Virginia (Hernandez) Mendez. She had been a resident of Sweetwater for over 50 years coming from Lubbock, Texas. She was a homemaker and a member of Calvary Baptist Church.
She is survived by one son, Jesse Ortiz of Abilene, Texas; four daughters, Elizabeth Brown and husband Russell of Trent, Texas, Diane Valdez of Merkel, Texas, Adelada Bowman and husband James of Abilene, Texas and Juanita Cordoza of Sweetwater, Texas; thirteen grandchildren and eleven great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Lorenzo and Virginia Mendez, husband, Marcelino Ortiz, son, Marcelino Ortiz, Jr., and grandson, Marcos Ortiz and six brothers and sisters.
Pallbearers will be Russell Brown, Sr., Russell Brown, Jr., Russell (Trey) Brown, III, Valentine Valdez, Steven Cordoza, and Juanita Cordoza.
Family will receive friends at the funeral home on Friday, March 30, 2012 from 6-8 P.M..
