Ben Geron Monroe

Ben Geron Monroe, age 94, of Sweetwater, TX, died Wednesday, April 7, 2010, at Rolling Plains Memorial Hospital in Sweetwater, TX.
Ben was born on June 4, 1915 in Paris, Texas. He graduated from Newman High School in l933. He married Juanita Mae Smith on September 21, 1946 in Sweetwater, Texas.
He was a WWII Navy veteran. He was a member of First Presbyterian Church, American Legion, V.F.W., Nolan County Coin Club,and Downtown Men's Bible Class.
He is survived by two sons - Ben G. Monroe, Jr. and wife Kathy of Brownwood, Texas and Thomas Patrick Monroe and wife Susan of Temple, Texas, and one daughter - Elizabeth Ann Shirley and husband Billy Joe of Sweetwater, Texas, daughter-in-law - Patti Monroe of Grapevine, Texas, seven grandchildren - Kristen Shirley, Tiffany Rotan and Michael, Ben G. Monroe, III and Wife Dee Ann, William Monroe and wife Erica, Thomas Monroe, Jr., Jason Monroe and wife Mary and Brandon Monroe, nine great grandchildren - Hunter Rotan, Landyn Rotan, Natalie Monroe, Hunter Monroe, Brandon Finley, Theo Birdsong, Zoe Fuqua, Tucker Birdsong and Lola Monroe.
He was preceded in death by his parents - Thomas Bell Monroe and Mary Elizabeth Geron Monroe, wife - Juanita Mae Monroe, son - Michael Adair Monroe, brother - Tom Monroe, and sister - Cary Ann Jacobsen.
Pallbearers will be grandsons.
Honorary pallbearers will be Downtown Men's Bible Class.
Funeral Services will be held at 2:00 P.M., Saturday, April 10, 2010 at Cate-Spencer & Trent Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Howell Martin officiating. Interment will follow at Sweetwater Cemetery. Arrangements are under the direction of Cate-Spencer & Trent Funeral Home.
Family will receive friends at the funeral home on Friday, April 9, 2010 from 6:00-7:30 PM.
