Betty Joyce (Colwell) Ellison

Betty Joyce Ellison, age 85, of Sweetwater, Texas, passed away on Thursday, August 3, 2023 at her daughter's home.

Family will receive friends at the funeral home on Friday, August 4, 2023 from 6:00 - 7:30 PM.

Funeral services will be held 10:00 A.M., Saturday, August 5, 2023 at Cate-Spencer & Trent Funeral Home Chapel with Pastor Lester Cavitt officiating. Burial will follow at Roscoe Cemetery.  Arrangements are under the direction of Cate-Spencer & Trent Funeral Home.

Betty was born on April 13, 1938 in Fisher County, Texas to Joe and Nettie (Tollison) Colwell.  She married Welton Ellison on August 17, 1956 in Sweetwater, Texas.  She was a member of Lamar Street Baptist Church.  She was a homemaker.

She is survived by her daughter, Melissa Hoyle and husband Jesse of Sweetwater, Texas, son, Glenn Ellison and wife Connie of Sweetwater, Texas, seven grandchildren, numerous great grandchildren, sisters, Patsy Ribble and Dianne Guidry, and brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Edwin Ellison and wife Jane.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Joe and Nettie Colwell, husband Welton Ellison,  son, Michael Ellison,  brothers, Bobby Colwell and Dennis Colwell, and sister, Glenda Ruth Wimberly.

Pallbearers will be Glenn Ellison, Justin Ellison, Brandon Ellison, Jeremy McDonald, Jesse Hoyle, and Pete Hearn.
