Betty Jean Holbert, age 83, of Abilene, Texas,(former long time resident of Colorado City, Texas), passed away on Tuesday, March 26, 2013 at Wisteria Place in Abilene, Texas.
Her body will be cremated. A graveside service will be held 11:00 A.M., Saturday, March 30, 2013 at Sweetwater Cemetery with Father Dennis Bosley officiating. Arrangements are under the direction of Cate-Spencer & Trent Funeral Home.
Betty Jean was born on November 7, 1929 in Rotan, Texas to Hubert Franklin and Johnie Hazel(Pugh) Palmer. She married Bill Holbert on June 11, 1949 in Sweetwater, Texas. She was a member of All Saints Episcopal Church in Colorado City, Texas. She worked as the manager of the Civic Center in Colorado City for many years before retiring.
She is survived by children, Anna Carter of Abilene, TX, Jennifer Hart and husband Mike of Sweetwater, Texas, Susan Bumpass and husband Richard of Granbury, Texas; and Joe Kirschaum and wife Mary of Abilene, Texas; five grandchildren, Kara, Robin, Aaron, Emily and Aimee; seven great grandchildren, Kalen, Anyah, Kora, Noah, Charli, Jack and Alijah; one sister, Shirley Spradlin, and two brothers, B.J. Palmer and Bob Palmer.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Hubert Franklin and Johnie Hazel Palmer, and her husband, Bill Holbert on April 7, 2001.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to charity of ones choice.
