Christopher John Merritt

Christopher John Merritt, age 49, of Sweetwater, Texas, passed away at his residence on Monday, September 2, 2024 surrounded by family.

Family will receive friends at the funeral home on Wednesday, September 4, 2024 from 6:00 - 8:00 P.M.

Funeral services will be held 2:00 P.M., Thursday, September 5, 2024 at Cate-Spencer & Trent Funeral Home Chapel with Dr. J.T. Thornton officiating.  Burial will follow at Nolan Cemetery.  Arrangements are under the direction of Cate-Spencer & Trent Funeral Home.

Christopher was born on March 2, 1975 in Odessa, Texas to John Neal and Beverly Jean (Goff) Merritt.  He was a high school graduate of Odessa High School.  He worked as a janitor for B-Line Lube Center for many years.  He was a devoted Christian and loved his Lord.  His family was the joy of his life.

He is survived by his mother, Beverly Hollowell and husband Lowell of Sweetwater, Texas;  father, John Merritt of Houston, Texas; sisters, B.J. Hollowell of Mineola, TX, and Jessica Merritt and Kendra Merritt, both of Houston, Texas; uncles and aunts, Dennis Goff of Odessa, Texas, Randy Merritt of Houston, Texas, Joyce Andrews of Houston, Texas, Mary and William Hollis of Abilene, Texas, Glenda Hollowell of Abilene, Texas, and Kathy Hollowell of Eastland, Texas; and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.

He was preceded in death by his grandparents, Pansy and Loyd Goff, Ann and Cleo Merritt, George and Shirley Hollowell; uncles, George Pat Hollowell, and Ben Hollowell; aunts, Amy Hamlin and Renee Hollowell.

Pallbearers will be family members.
