Concepcion (Connie) (Quirino) Palacios

Concepcion (Connie) Palacios, age 73, of Abilene, Texas (Former longtime resident of Sweetwater, Texas, passed away on Wednesday, August 20, 2014 at Abilene Regional Medical Center.

A rosary will be held Sunday ,August 24, 2014, at 7:00 P.M., at Cate-Spencer & Trent Funeral Home Chapel recited by family members.                         .

Holy Mass of Christian Burial will be held Monday, August 25,2014 at 10:00 A.M.  at Holy Spirit Parish (Immaculate Heart of Mary) Catholic Church  with Rev. Charles Okonkwo and Rev. Michael Rodriguez officiating.  Burial will follow at Sweetwater Cemetery.     Arrangements are under the direction of Cate-Spencer & Trent Funeral Home.

Connie was born on March 22, 1941 in Sweetwater, Texas to Librado Quirino, Sr. and Sara Gomez Quirino.  She was a homemaker and a member of Holy Spirit Parish (Immaculate Heart of Mary) Catholic Church.  She married Rufus T. Palacios, Sr. on November 9, 1957 in Sweetwater, Texas. Connie was active in the community, serving as a Fema volunteer during the tornado that hit Sweetwater and a volunteer for the Southwest Voter registration and Education project. .Connie served as a Crime Stopper board member for twelve years.  She also served as a liaison for the undocumented as a translator. Connie ran for city commission in Nolan County and was a parishioner of St. Vincent Catholic Church, Abilene, Texas and Immaculate Heart  of Mary Catholic Church, Sweetwater, Texas.

She is survived by ten children, Leandro Palacios and wife Paris of Howe, Texas, Rufus Palacios, Jr. and wife Ramona of Sweetwater, Texas, Veronica Rodriquez of Abilene, Texas, Ermelinda Quesada and husband Luis of Abilene, Texas, Maria Palacios of Dallas, Texas, Severita Rosales and husband Jesse of Abilene, Texas, Anacleto Palacios and wife Veronica of Cedar Park, Texas, Martin Palacios of Dallas, Texas, Mechtilde Garcia and husband Leonard of San Jose, California, and Rita Palacios of San Antonio, Texas, fourteen grandchildren, Cory, Syreeta, and Sarah Palacios, Anthony, Elizabeth, and Victoria Palacios, Efrain and Gregory Rodriquez, Elijah, Nikki, and Kaleb Quesada, Raul and Alexis Lopez, and Jesse Rosales, Jr., eleven great grandchildren, Olivia Carter, Aryana Lopez, Alexis Lopez, Jr. Victoria Elizabeth Rodriquez, and Charles Alexander Moore,Angelina Marie Lopez,
Lane Alexander Rodriquez, Nathaniel Palacios, Aaliyah Palacios, Cara Quesada and Logan Quesada and three sisters, Sara Quirinio, Ernestina Q. Cox, Raquel Quirino, and  two brothers, Librado Quirino, Jr. and David Quirino, and numerous nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Librado and Sara Quirino, husband, Rufus T. Palacios, Sr., four sisters, Rosa V. Quirino, Carmen Q. Cardoza, and Lucia Quirino, Rosa Q. Alvarado and two brothers, Manuel Quirino and Refugio C. Quirino.

Pallbearers will be her grandsons,  Raul Lopez, Elijah Quesada, Efrain Rodriquez, Alexis Lopez, Jesse Rosales, Jr.and Anthony Palacios.
Honorary Pallbearers will be Cory Curtis and Gregory Rodriquez.

The family suggest that memorials be made to Holy Spirit Parish, 511 West Alabama St, Sweetwater, Tx.. or Nolan County Crime Stoppers P. O. Box 311, Sweetwater, Tx.
