Daniel G. Martinez, Sr.

Daniel G. Martinez, Sr., age 74, of Sweetwater, Texas, passed away on Sunday, September 11, 2011 at Hendrick Medical Center.

Funeral Services will be held 2:00 P.M., Wednesday, September 14, 2011 at Cate-Spencer & Trent Funeral Home Chapel with Johnny Deleon officiating. Burial will follow at Sweetwater Cemetery. Arrangements are under the direction of Cate-Spencer & Trent Funeral Home.

Daniel was born on May 21, 1937 in Eskota, Texas to Pascual and Felipa (Gomez) Martinez. He worked as a cement pipe manufacturer for Gifford-Hill-American before retiring.

He is survived by two sons, Daniel G. Martinez, Jr. and wife Cindy of Sweetwater, Texas; and Phillip Martinez and wife Renee of Austin, Texas; one daughter, Diana Ruiz and husband Juan of Grand Prairie, Texas; five grandchildren, Alexis Martinez, Sadie Martinez, Luke Martinez, Amy Jaimes, and Jose Martinez; eight great grandchildren; two brothers, Pascual Martinez, Jr., and Elias Martinez and six sisters, Rosalva Orona, Rachel Ornelas, Ester Cordova, Eva Ornelas, Margaret Lopez, and Eloisa Martinez.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Pascual and Felipa Martinez, two baby brothers, one baby sister, brother, Manuel Martinez, and sister, Micaela Alcala.

Pallbearers will be Adam Ornelas, Oscar Martinez, Denny Cordova, Gilbert Tellez, Joel Ornelas, and Nick Stokes, Jr.. Honorary pallbearers will be Elias Martinez, Jr. and Ben Martinez, Jr.

Family will receive friends at the funeral home on Tuesday, September 13, 2011 from 6-8 PM.
