Derrell Mark Hicks

Derrell Mark Hicks, age 68, of Sweetwater, Texas, passed away on Tuesday, January 9, 2024 at his residence.

Family will receive friends at the funeral home on Friday, January 12, 2024  from 12:30 P.M., to service time.

Funeral services will be held 2:00 P.M., Friday, January 12, 2024 at Cate-Spencer & Trent Funeral Home Chapel with Pastor Richard Acuna officiating.  Burial will follow at Rose Hill Cemetery in Merkel, Texas.  Arrangements are under the direction of Cate-Spencer & Trent Funeral Home.

Derrell Mark Hicks was born on September 10, 1955 in Merkel, Texas to Wayman Derrell and Juaneva Cason Hicks.  He worked for MHMR and was a Recording Studio Engineer.  He was retired but still was doing recording.  He was a Christian.  He had been a resident of Sweetwater since 1998, coming from Merkel, Texas.  He was a lover of the Dallas Cowboys, music, and especially his children and family.

He is survived by his daughter, Marlee Hicks of Sweetwater, Texas, son, Trenton Hicks of Denton, Texas, mother of his children, Leann Hicks of Dunn, Texas, brothers, Michael Hicks and Kirk Hicks, two step-sisters, Jeanie West and Debbie Williams, and one uncle, numerous cousins, and nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Wayman Hicks and Jueneva Cason Whitaker.

Pallbearers will be Cason Hicks, Tim Wright, Clinton McKeehan, Craig Hicks, Jeff Hicks, and John Palmer.
