Dixie Joyce (Kerby) Massey

Dixie Joyce Massey, age 89, of Sweetwater, Texas, passed away on Sunday, August 4, 2024 at Rolling Plains Memorial Hospital surrounded by her family.

Family will receive friends at the funeral home on Tuesday, August 6, 2024 from 6:00 - 7:30 P.M.

Funeral services will be held 10:00 A.M., Wednesday, August 7, 2024 at Lamar Street Baptist Church with Rev. Keith Clifton and Rev. Billy Roddy officiating.  Burial will follow at Sweetwater Cemetery.  Arrangements are under the direction of Cate-Spencer & Trent Funeral Home.

Dixie was born on October 6, 1934 in Sweetwater, Texas to Melton O. and Opal Vada (Tatom) Kerby.  She married Norman Seth Massey on July 2, 1955 in Sweetwater, Texas.  She worked as a presser for McBride Cleaners and worked at the Texas Theatre.  She was also co-owner of a bridal shop- New Beginnings in the 1990's.  She was a longtime member of Lamar Street Baptist Church.  Her family was the joy of her life and she will be truly missed by everyone that knew her.

She is survived by her husband, Norman S. Massey of Sweetwater, Texas,  son, Jackie Benningfield and wife Donice of Henderson, Texas, daughter, Karen Wilke and husband Larry of Sweetwater, Texas, daughter, Lori Hillock and husband Ross of Moody, Texas, numerous grandchildren and great grandchildren, and brother, Kenneth Kerby and wife Beverly of Sache, Texas.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Melton & Opal Kerby, son, Robert Norman Massey, and brother, Billy Melton Kerby.

Pallbearers will be Tad Baird, Shawn Wilke, Cody Meyer, Stacey Benningfield, Tristan Benningfield and Jason Lowe.
