D.M. Pieper, age 92, of Sweetwater, Texas, passed away on Monday, July 9, 2012, at Sweetwater Healthcare Center.
A rosary will be held 7:00 P.M.,, Wednesday, July 11, 2012 at Holy Family Catholic Church with Deacon Bill Butler officiating.
Holy Mass of Christian Burial will be held 10:00 A.M., Thursday, July 12, 2012 at Immaculate Heart of Mary Catholic Church with Father Joseph Othieno offficating. Burial will follow at Roscoe Cemetery. Arrangements are under the direction of Cate-Spencer & Trent Funeral Home.
D. M. was born on February 19, 1920 in Oglesby, Texas to Samuel and Myrtle (Barnett) Pieper. He graduated from Pyron High School in 1938. In the fall of 1938, he entered Texas Tech and stayed there one year. He later attended Anderson Aircraft School near Burbank, California and completed his certificate for aircraft construction.He was later employed by Lockhead Aircraft for two years. Due to a severe illness in Los Angeles, he returned home to regain his health and was later employed by Army Air Corps at the Roswell, New Mexico Air Corp. Base working in aircraft reconstruction. He was classifed as a civil servant. After the war was over, he married Edith Brom. After their marriage, they returned to the Wastella Community and farmed from 1945 till 1985.
He was a member of Holy Family Catholic Church. He served on numerous boards including, the Roscoe School Board, Inadale Co-op Gin , Nolan County Farm Bureau and Rolling Plains Compress.
He is survived by his wife, Edith Pieper of Sweetwater, Texas; daughter, Janice Tiemann and husband Harold of Yorktown, Texas; son, Gary Pieper and wife Frances of Roscoe, Texas ; grandchildren, Christopher Pieper, Amy Webb and husband Patrick, Jacob Tiemann and wife Timpy, Melody Tiemann, Nathan Tiemann and wife Joanna; great grandchildren, Evan Webb and Lincoln Tiemann; three brothers, Arthur Lee Pieper of Loraine, Texas, Carl Pieper and wife Lois of Clyde, Texas; and Travis Pieper and wife Virginia of Odessa, Texas and two sisters, Velma Nader and husband Richard of Fort Worth, Texas and Jewel Harris of Borger, Texas.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Samuel and Myrtle Pieper, sister, Orene Cummings, brothers, Barnett Pieper, Arnold Pieper, and Robert Duane Pieper.
