Ethel Valerie (Coker) Sexton

Ethel Valerie Coker Sexton, age 93, of Abilene, Texas, passed into the arms of Jesus on Saturday, December 15, 2012 at The Oaks @ Radford Hills in Abilene, Texas with all of her family at her bedside.

Her body was cremated. Her cremains will be buried in a private graveside at Garden of Memories alongside her husband and son. A memorial service will be held 1:30 P.M., Wednesday, December 19, 2012 at Cate-Spencer & Trent Funeral Home Chapel with David Cason officiating. Arrangements are under the direction of Cate-Spencer & Trent Funeral Home.

Valerie was born October 30, l9l9 in Abilene, Texas, to Hildrey Sylvestor and Elizabeth (Pope) Coker. She was a 1939 high school graduate of Newman High School. She married John Porter (J.P.) Sexton on June 30, 1939 in Abilene, Texas. She was a homemaker and a member of Fourth & Elm Church of Christ.

She is survived by her daughter Carol Boyd and husband Ron of Abilene, Texas; two grandsons, Martin Boyd and wife Cindi and Tony Boyd and wife Cheri, all of Abilene, Texas; two great granddaughters, Amber Law and husband Kyle, of Abilene, Texas and Nicci Conn and husband Neil of Albuquerque, New Mexico; niece, Patsy Halbert of San Angelo, Texas; cousin, Tolbert Jaynes; niece, Linda Posey; nephew, Jimmy Walker, and a very special nephew, Bill Stroman and wife Sheila, all of Sweetwater, Texas.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Hildrey and Elizabeth Coker; husband, J.P. Sexton; son, Don Sexton; and two sisters, Tommy Altom and Susie Stroman.
