Floyd Tolbert Jaynes

Floyd Tolbert Jaynes, age 83, of Sweetwater, Texas, passed away on Wednesday, January 4, 2017 at Nolan Nursing and Rehab.

Funeral services will be held 3:00 P.M., Friday, January 6, 2017 at Cate-Spencer & Trent Funeral Home Chapel with Michael Harbour officiating. Burial will follow at Sweetwater Cemetery.  Arrangements are under the direction of Cate-Spencer & Trent Funeral Home.

Tolbert was born on November l, 1933 in South Texas  to Fred Clinton and Grace Irene (Pope) Jaynes. The Jaynes family moved to the Nolan area in the 1940s.

Tolbert attended Sweetwater Schools and graduated from Newman High in 1952.  Later Tolbert attended Abilene Christian College and earned a bachelor's degree in  Business Administration.  He was a longtime member of Fourth  & Elm Church of Christ and worked for  the  Agricultural Stabilization and Conservation Service and was a District Director for 18 years before retiring.

Tolbert is survived by cousins, including Bill Stroman and Carol Boyd, his Fourth & Elm Church of Christ Family and his dog Buttons.

He  was preceded in death by his parents, Fred C. & Grace Jaynes.

Pallbearers will be Manuel Jaramillo, Bill Stroman, Rick Alley, Tim Hall, Don Tatum, and Joe Paty.

Honorary pallbearers will be Leon Donham, Jim Wilks, Jerry Riggs and W.B. Whisenant, Jr..
