Frances F. Burton

Frances F. Burton, age 91, of Sweetwater, Texas, passed away on Tuesday, March 11, 2025, at Sweetwater Healthcare Center.

Family will receive friends at the funeral home on Wednesday, March 12, 2025 from 6:00 - 7:00 P.M.

Funeral services will be held 2:00 P.M., Thursday, March 13, 2025, at Cate-Spencer & Trent Funeral Home Chapel with Thomas Hoover officiating. Burial will follow at Shep Cemetery. Arrangements are under the direction of Cate-Spencer & Trent Funeral Home.

Frances was born on December 24, 1933 in Talpa, Texas to Joseph Lee Cotherman and Alice (Brannon) Cotherman. She was a graduate of Talpa High School. She married the love of her life, U.S. Burton on July 20, 1952, in Talpa, Texas. Frances worked for SISD in the cafeteria for many years and also worked as a bookkeeper at Hartgraves and Bradford Insurance Agency. She was a longtime member of Highland Baptist Church. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, and great grandmother. Her family was the joy of her life and she will be truly missed.

She is survived by her loving husband, U.S. Burton of Sweetwater, Texas; daughter, Debra Soto and husband John, and son, Terry Burton and wife Anna, all of Sweetwater, Texas; seven grandchildren, ten great grandchildren, and three sisters-in-law, Barbara Hoover of Sweetwater, Texas, Pearl Ayers of Eula, Texas and Gaynell Cotherman Roberts of Sweetwater, Texas.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Joseph Lee Cotherman and Alice (Brannon) Cotherman; son, Gary Lee Burton; daughter-in-law, Cindy (Brashear) Burton; four brothers, L.V. Cotherman, Jack Cotherman, Lee Cotherman and Joe Cotherman; and one sister, Nettie Edwards.

Pallbearers will be her grandchildren.
