Francisco Rudolfo (Rudy) Herrera, Jr., age 50, of Sweetwater, Texas, passed away on Saturday, November 15, 2014 at his residence.
A rosary will be held 7:00 P.M., , Monday, November 17, 2014 at Cate-Spencer & Trent Funeral Home Chapel recited by David Mendez.
Holy Mass of Christian Burial will be held 10:00 A.M., Tuesday, November 18, 2014 at Holy Spirit Parish (Immaculate Heart of Mary) with Bishop Joe Vasquez officiating. Burial will follow later at Highland Memorial Cemetery in Stamford, Texas. Arrangements are under the direction of Cate-Spencer & Trent Funeral Home.
Rudy was born on September 6, 1964 in Stamford, Texas to Francisco and Mary (Vasquez) Herrera. He was a member of Holy Spirit Parish (Immaculate Heart of Mary). He worked for Ludlum Measurements for years before he developed health problems. Rudy was a lover of everyone he met and really had a way of making people laugh. If you ever asked him how he was his answer was always the same, "I never had a bad day!" He kept a good attitude even when he was sick and hurting. He loved his family, his friends, his dog, Carlos, and most of all he loved Jesus. He will be greatly missed by those who were lucky enough to have known and loved him.
He is survived by two daughters, Ashley Kainer of Lubbock, Texas, and Emily Hayes of Mt. Vernon, Washington; mother, Mary Smith of Abilene, Texas, father, Francisco Herrera and wife Martha of Aspermont, Texas; two brothers, Lino Herrera and J.J. Herrera, both of Sweetwater, Texas; two sisters, Loretta Hernandez and husband Leo of Abilene, Texas and Virginia Rodriquez of Abilene, Texas; eight nieces and nephews, and numerous aunts, uncles and cousins.
Pallbearers will be Michael Moreno, Gilbert Vasquez, James Vasquez, Richard Lara, Johnny Flores, and Frank DeLoera.
