Gene Browning

May 22, 1943 — February 14, 2015

Gene Browning, age 71, passed away on Saturday, February 14, 2015 at Nolan Nursing and Rehab.

Graveside Services will be held 10:00 A.M., Friday, February 20, 2015 at Palava Cemetery with David Peyton officiating.  Burial will follow.  Arrangements are under the direction of Cate-Spencer & Trent Funeral Home.

Howard Gene Browning  was born on May 22, 1943 in Colorado City, Texas to Mitchell Coy and Margie E. (Grubbs) Browning.  He graduated from Newman High School in 1962.  He married Margaret Kearney on July 21, 1967 in Sweetwater, Texas.  He was a member of Highland Heights United Methodist Church.  He worked for Lone Star Gas for many years as a service technician before retiring.  He was a U.S. Army veteran.  He was a lifetime member of NRA, past president of  the Sweetwater Rifle & Pistol Club, and Chairman  Emertus of Sweetwater Rifle and Pistol Club's Gun and Coin Show.

He is survived by two sons, Jason Browning of Sweetwater, Texas and Clint Browning of Killeen, Texas; three granddaughters, Lauren Browning, Kathryn Browning and Bridget Browning; three brothers, Jerry Browning and Jimmy (Bo) Browning and  wife Brenda, all of Sweetwater, Texas and Ronnie Browning and wife Cheryl of Marble Falls, Texas, and one sister, Carolyn Flint and husband Jimmy of Sweetwater, Texas, and many friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Mitchell Coy and Margie Browning; his wife,  Margaret Browning and sister-in-law, Willene Browning.

Family will receive friends at the funeral home on Thursday, February 19, 2015 from 6-8 P.M.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to:  Boy Scout Troop #140, Sweetwater Rifle and Pistol Club and Ducks Unlimited.
