Gene W. Shaffer

Gene W. Shaffer, age 82, of Sweetwater, Texas, passed away on Monday, September 4, 2023 at Rolling Plains Memorial Hospital.

As per his wishes, his body will be cremated.  A memorial service will be held at a later date.  Arrangements are under the direction of Cate-Spencer & Trent Funeral Home.

Gene was born on April 8, 1941 in Sweetwater, Texas to William Alvy and Ruby Inez (Bradberry) Shaffer.  He graduated from Newman High School in 1960.  He worked for Flintkote for many years before retiring.  He was a member of the Church of Christ.

He is survived by three daughters, Cheri Roden and husband Tony of Sweetwater, Texas, Leigh Angela Foster of Sedan, Kansas and Carol Shaffer of Eudora, Kansas, (8) grandchildren, (6) great grandchildren,  sister, Earlene Head, two nephews, numerous great nieces and nephews and cousins and daughter by heart and not by blood, Dawn Dennis of Abilene, Texas.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Alvy and Ruby Shaffer, and brother-in-law, S.C. Head.
