George J. Cervik, age 85, of Sweetwater, Texas passed away on Wednesday, July 15, 2015 at his residence. He was our special and beloved Husband, Dad and Papa and will be so missed.
Funeral services will be held 10:00 A.M., Saturday, July 18, 2015 at Faith Lutheran Church with Vicar Keith Hills officiating. Graveside services will be held 2:30 P.M., Saturday, July 18, 2015 at Rochester Cemetery. Burial will follow with the Fort Hood U.S. Army Honor Guard. Arrangements are under the direction of Cate-Spencer & Trent Funeral Home.
Family will receive friends at the funeral home on Friday, July 17, 2015 from 6:30 PM - 8:00 PM.
George was born on July 24, 1929 in Boswell, Pennsylvania to George and Mary (Volna) Cervik. He married Beverly Sue Dabney on October 5, 1957 in Stamford, Texas. He served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War. George worked in the Pennsylvania coal mines first and then went to college at Penn State where he received a Bachelor of Science Degree in Petroleum Engineering. He worked for Texaco Oil Company for thirty three years as a production foreman and then area supervisor before retiring in 1989. He was a longtime member of Faith Lutheran Church.
He is survived by his wife, Sue Cervik of Sweetwater, Tx, daughter, Cindy Robinson of Lubbock, Texas, grandson, Zack Robinson of Lubbock, Texas; two sisters, Ann DeNaples and Veronica Olsen, both of Stamford, Connecticut, and numerous nieces, nephews and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers and three sisters.
Pallbearers will be Zack Robinson, Greg Gray, Chuck Harvey, Bion Coleman, Murray Hall and Jackie Trent.
Honorary pallbearers will be Tex Leach and Wayne Hagood.
