George M. Stewart, age 77, of Sweetwater, Texas, passed away on Thursday, March 5, 2015 at Texas Health Huguley Hospital.
Graveside services will be held 2:00 P.M., Tuesday, March 10, 2015 at Sweetwater Cemetery with Rev. Chris Stephens officiating. Burial will follow. Arrangements are under the direction of Cate-Spencer & Trent Funeral Home.
George was born on July 19, 1937 in Cooper, Texas to Ramon and Hortense (Jennings) Stewart. He married Francine Wise on November 4, 1961 in Riverside, California. He was a U.S. Navy veteran and a member of Broadway Baptist Church. He worked for Georgia Pacific for many years as a security guard. He had been a resident of Sweetwater since 2003, moving from Riverside, California.
He is survived by his wife, Francine Stewart of Sweetwater, Texas, son, Stephen Stewart and wife Tracy of Longview, Texas, daughter, Lucinda Stewart of Oceanside, California, two grandchildren, Taylor Stewart and Zachary Stewart, and one brother, Granville Stewart and wife Helen of Houston, Texas.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Ramon and Hortense Stewart, one brother, Richard Stewart and sister-in-law, Sandra Stewart.
Family will receive friends at the funeral home on Monday, March 9, 2015 from 6:00 - 7:30 P.M..
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Broadway Baptist Church, 710 East Third, Sweetwater, Texas 79556.
