Harold Carey, age 83, of Sweetwater, Texas, passed away on Thursday, January 30, 2014 at Hendrick Medical Center.
Graveside services will be held 3:00 P.M., Saturday, February 1, 2014 at Garden of Memories with Joshuah Ellis officiating. Burial will follow. Arrangements are under the direction of Cate-Spencer & Trent Funeral Home.
Harold was born on May 13, 1930 in Harmony, Texas to E.T. and Dorothy Estelle (Bunch) Carey. He married Janice McDaniel on November 9, 1953 in Lovington, New Mexico. He owned and operated B & H Refrigeration before retiring. He had been a resident of Sweetwater for over fifty years. He was a member of Avenue B Church of Christ and a U. S. Army Veteran.
He is survived by his wife, Janice Carey of Sweetwater, TX, three daughters, Brenda Cox and husband Mike of Austin, Texas, Sandra Payne and husband Alan of Salado, TX, and Jana Stewart and husband Alex of Sweetwater, Texas, one son, Buddy Carey and wife Alyse of Granbury, TX, nine grandchidren, Chad Tabers, Melanee Keleman, Michelle Stark, Chris Payne, Holly Mitchell, Lance Payne, Lauren Haney, Haylee Stewart and Lexie Stewart, ten great grandchildren, one sister, Lola Faye Blythe of Meredian, Mississippi, one brother, Alford Carey of Roby, Texas, and numerous nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, E.T. and Dorothy Carey, one brother and one sister.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Nolan County - City Library, 206 Elm Street, Sweetwater, Texas 79556 or West Texas Rehab Center, 4601 Hartford Street, Abilene, Texas 79605.
