Hazel Joy (Weaver) Brown

Hazel Joy Brown, age 89, of Brownwood, Texas (Formerly of Sweetwater, Texas) passed away on Saturday, July 16, 2011 at Songbird Lodge Nursing Home in Brownwood.

Funeral services will be held 10:00 A.M., Wednesday, July 20, 2011 at Cate-Spencer & Trent Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Keith Clifton officiating. Burial will follow at Garden of Memories.  Arrangements are under the direction of Cate-Spencer & Trent Funeral Home.

Hazel was born on September 4, 1921 in Emmett, Arkansas to Cap & Que Weaver. She married J W Brown, Jr. on September 4, 1937 in Hope, Arkansas. She was a homemaker, devoted mother , grandmother and great grandmother. She was also a member of Lamar Street Baptist Church.

She is survived by one son, Donald Ray Brown and wife Pat of Kansas City, Missouri; four daughters, Shirley Keyes and husband John and Dorothy Burwick,, all of Brownwood, Texas; Nancy Ball and husband Dan of Ketchikan, Alaska, and Peggy Lofton and husband Ken of Sweetwater, Texas; nine grandchildren; John Keyes, Jr.,  Melony Kempf, Mikki Payne, Shannon Brown, Donnie Brown, Jr., Paige Brown, Shelly Bilbo, David Williams, and Brad Groghan and eleven great grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband, J W Brown, Jr. on October 5, 1997; and one daughter, Helen Ruth Brown on June 13, 1964.

Pallbearers will be Ronny Payne, Fred Bilbo, David Williams, Donnie Brown, Ryan Payne, and John Keyes, Jr..

Honorary pallbearers will be John Kempf, Tyler Bilbo, Ken Lofton, John Keyes, and Dan Ball.

Family will receive friends at the funeral home on Tuesday, July 19, 2011 from 6:30-8:00 PM.
