Jackey Ray Lawhon, age 77, of Sweetwater, Texas, passed away on Wednesday, February 4, 2015 at Rolling Plains Memorial Hospital.
Graveside services will be held 2:00 P.M., Saturday, February 7, 2015 at Sweetwater Cemetery with Rev. James Baker officiating. Burial will follow. Arrangements are under the direction of Cate-Spencer & Trent Funeral Home.
Jackey was born on December 7, 1937 in Sweetwater, Texas to Marion Coleman and Annie Lorene (Ussery) Lawhon. He married Bessie Childs Mead on September 17, 1963 in Claude, Texas. He worked as a truck driver and cook for many years before retiring. He was a Baptist.
He is survived by numerous nieces and nephews including, Catarino Hernandez, Rudy Hernandez, Juan Hernandez, Jose Robert Hernandez, Rudy Sergio Hernandez, Isiah Hernandez, Joel Deleon, and John Deleon, all of Abilene, Texas, and Rosemary Lawhon of Sweetwater, Texas, Rosie Hernandez, Victoria Galvan, Melina Deleon, Aaliyah Deleon, Nyelli Hernandez, and Alissa Hernandez, all of Abilene, Texas.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Marion Coleman Lawhon and Annie Lorene (Ussery) Lawhon, his wife Bessie Lawhon, four brothers, Coleman Lawhon, Johnny M. Lawhon, Jesse Alfred Lawhon, and Bill Lawhon, and three stepsons - Lucky Joe Mead, Louis Mead, and David Mead.
Pallbearers will be family members.
