James Warren (Jim) Bailey

June 13, 1953 — February 14, 2012

James Warren (Jim) Bailey, age 58, of Sweetwater, Texas passed away on Tuesday, February 14, 2012 at Hendrick Medical Center.

Full Military Graveside Services will be held 2:00 P.M., Friday, February 17, 2012 at Texas State Veterans Cemetery in Abilene, Texas with the Fort Hood U. S. Army Honor Guard. Arrangements are under the direction of Cate-Spencer & Trent Funeral Home.

James was born on June 13, 1953 in Chandler, Arizona, to Fremont and Addie L. (Allen) Bailey. He moved to San Antonio, Texas in the 1950's. He went to Roosevelt High School in San Antonio, and then joined the U.S. Army in 1971 and retired in 1991, at the grade of Sergeant First Class (Senior Noncommissioned Officer). His assignments included Korea, Germany, Belgium, and several stateside assignments. His last assignment was at the chaplain school in New Jersey where he developed, designed and evaulated training courses for 6 1/2 years. He received many military awards including defense meritorious service medal, army meritorious service award medal, army commendation service medal, 3 awards, army achievement service medal - 2 awards, good conduct service medal - 6 awards, and multiple army commendation letters. He graduated with a business degree. He also worked for the Texas Department of Criminal Justice from 1998 to 2005. His hobbies included hunting, fishing, and bowling.

He is survived by his wife, Janace Rena Bailey of Sweetwater, Texas; five children; Diane Symons of Fort Worth, Texas; Jamie Clifton and husband Eric of Graham, Texas; Kimberly Bailey of Maryland, Amanda Bailey and Jonathan Bailey, both of New Jersey; five grandchildren; brother, Dennis Bailey and wife Sandy of San Antonio, Texas; two sisters, Debra Carlos and husband Larry of Pennsylvania, and Carol Ann Hickman of Houston, Texas; and many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Fremont and Addie L. Bailey.
