James Luther Williams, 62 of Sweetwater, Texas, died May 1, 2015, at his home with his sisters by his side.
A private family tribute in the memory of James Luther Williams will be held in Sweetwater, Texas , May 15, 2015. Arrangements are under the direction of Cate-Spencer & Trent Funeral Home.
James was born on March 10, 1953 in Grand Prairie, Texas to James "Willie" and Sammie Williams. James grew up in Waco, Texas and where he continued with his long time friendship of 35 years with friends until his death. Moving to Sweetwater, Texas in 1970 is where he met his soul mate of 26 wonderful years in marriage to Dindy (Watson) Williams.
James early employment began in Sweetwater at the old Baker Hotel, then on to Lamar Glass. He made his first career with Gulf Oil in Roscoe, Texas specializing in the petroleum measurement division. Transferring to Houston, Texas he completed 18 years of service which was then Chevron. James's second career is where he left his legacy, developing his skills and talent in stain glass art working at various studios in the Fort Worth and Dallas areas.
James is survived by his father Willie Williams of Sweetwater; brothers, Roger and Clifford Williams of Sweetwater; Kenneth Williams and wife Susan of Austin; sisters, Linda Todd and husband Larry of Quitman; Patricia Browning and husband Chuck of Sweetwater; Melonie Wilkinson and husband Randy of Hylton; and his loving nieces, nephews, and numerous other relatives.
James was preceded in death by his wife Dindy in 2000; his mother Sammie Williams in 2014.
The family would also like to thank Hendrick Hospice staff who took great care of him.
