Jerry Don Jones, a loving father, husband, and devoted family man, passed away peacefully at his San Angelo, Texas home surrounded by loved ones on September 22, 2024 at the age of 76.
Family will receive friends at the funeral home on Wednesday, September 25, 2024 from 6:00 - 7:00 P.M.
Graveside services will be held 2:00 P.M., Thursday, September 26, 2024 at Slater's Chapel Cemetery with Mike Ensminger officiating. Burial will follow with U.S. Army Honor Guard. Arrangements are under the direction of Cate-Spencer & Trent Funeral Home.
Jerry was born on May 6, 1948 in Clovis, New Mexico to Doug and Anna Jones. He grew up in Nolan, Texas. He graduated from Divide High School in 1967 and later married his beloved wife, Bonnie Fay Crain.
Jerry proudly served in the United States Army, including a tour in Vietnam. After his military service, he worked for the railroad until retirement. His dedication earned him 100% Disabled Veteran status.
A skilled and versatile individual, Jerry held various jobs, earning him the nickname "Jack of all trades". He also obtained an Associate of Applied Science degree in Air Conditioning and Refrigeration.
As a member and his love for the Lord, he went to Normandy Avenue Church of Christ. Jerry cherished his faith and loved listening to his daughter Marcy's prayers before and during his illness.
Jerry's family was his top priority including his dog, Jack. His legacy of love, devotion, and resilience will be deeply missed by all who knew him. One of his biggest wishes were to bring his family closer together.
He is survived by his two daughters, Crista Boyd Jones and partner John Brown and Marcy Hall Jones; five grandchildren, Amanda Griswold and husband Randy of McCamey, Texas, Lacy Mulanax of McCamey, Texas, Emily Anthony and Savanna Hall, both of Sweetwater, Texas and Houston Mulanax and wife Gelsey of McCamey; eight great grandchildren, Skylar, Julia, Teagan, Aries, Braxton, Brycen, Willow and Rosey; lots of cousins, nieces, nephews, aunts and uncles. Plus a special thanks to adopted family Michael Morgan and Heather Hammond.
He was preceded in death by his best friend, Bonnie Jones Crain; parents, Anna and Doug Jones; brother, Stanley Dee Jones; and grandparents, aunts, uncles, and cousins.
