Jesse P. Martinez

Jesse P.  Martinez, age 51, of  Sweetwater, Texas, passed away on Friday, June 4, 2021 at Shannon Medical Center in San Angelo, Texas.

Holy Mass of Christian Burial will be held  10:00 A.M., Wednesday, June 9, 2021, at  Holy Spirit Catholic Parish with Father Nilo Nalugon officiating.  Burial will follow at Garden of Memories.    Arrangements are under the direction of Cate-Spencer & Trent Funeral Home.

A prayer service will be held 6:30 P.M., Tuesday, June 8, 2021 at Cate-Spencer & Trent Funeral Home Chapel with Deacon David Mendez officiating, followed by a rosary at 7:00 P.M., recited by Victor Rubio, Jr.

Jesse was born on March 27, 1970 in Sweetwater, Texas to Jose and Carmen (Pena) Martinez.  He was a member of Holy Spirit Catholic Parish.  He was a lifelong resident of Sweetwater, Texas.  Jesse was a fan of the Dallas Cowboys, and the Texas Longhorns.  He was a lover of the outdoors, great music and a master on the grill.  He was the best Father, Brother, and all around person.

He is survived by his wife, Sophia Villanueva of Sweetwater, Texas, son, Jonathon Martinez and wife Katelynn Painter of Abilene, Texas, three sisters, Esther Tilley of Abilene, Texas, Sylvia Martinez of Sweetwater, Texas, and Carmen Martinez Lewis and husband Robert of Sterling, Virginia, two brothers Louis Martinez of Sweetwater, Texas, and David Martinez and wife Lucy of Amarillo, Texas, mother, Carmen Martinez of Sweetwater, Texas, numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and extended family.

He was preceded in death by his father, Jose Martinez and sister, Virgina Martinez.

Pallbearers will be David Martinez, Johnny Pena, Raymond Romero, Alex Jackson, Johnny Pena, III, and Pedro Villanueva.

Honorary pallbearers will be Oscar Martinez, James Villanueva,  Paul Romero and Lee Trevino.
