Jesse Ray Penton, age 90, of Sweetwater, Texas, passed away on Saturday, November 1, 2014 at Rolling Plains Memorial Hospital.
Funeral services will be held 10:15 A.M., Wednesday, November 5, 2014 at Cate-Spencer & Trent Funeral Home Chapel with Tique Hamilton officiating. Burial will follow at Sweetwater Cemetery with the U.S. Naval Honor Guard. Arrangements are under the direction of Cate-Spencer & Trent Funeral Home.
Family will receive friends at the funeral home on Tuesday, November 4, 2014 from 6-8 P.M..
Jesse was born on March 6, 1924 in Sweetwater, Texas to Fred and Francis (Crain) Penton. He worked as a petroleum engineer before retiring. He was a member of First Baptist Church of Sweetwater and a U.S. Navy Veteran.
He is survived by two sons, James Robert Penton and wife Carol of Spring, Texas and Michael Lee Penton of Omaha, Nebraska, one daughter, Susan Rae Storey of Montgomery, Texas; eight grandchildren, two great grandchildren and sister-in-law, Norvelle Penton of Sweetwater, Texas.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Fred and Francis Penton, wife, Ruth Ann Wheeler Penton, two brothers, LeCroy Penton and Amos Penton, and three sisters, Mae Fred Croan, Mavis Gailais and Mina Lee McCullough.
