Jimmy Winston Posten, 74, of Sweetwater, Texas, went to be with the Lord on Friday, April 21, 2017.

A celebration of life service will be held on Saturday, April 29th at 2:00 p.m. at Cate-Spencer & Trent Funeral Home, 403 Locust, Sweetwater, Texas 79556, with Mike Redden officiating.

Jimmy was born on February 19, 1943 in Sweetwater, Texas to Virgil and Katy (Alston) Posten. He grew up in Sweetwater and moved to Fort Worth, Texas in 1964. He was employed as a mechanic for Morris Auto Service in Keller, Texas for many years and then for the Ford Motor Company in Sweetwater, Texas before retiring. He worked hard, achieving whatever he set out to do. Whether it was working or one of his many hobbies which included painting, playing tennis, throwing darts, racing cars on a dirt track or shooting guns, he always put all his effort and heart into it.

Jimmy loved life and was full of life. He created laughter with his sense of humor and wit, the makings of the many stories we all now hold in our hearts. His gift of gab will be remembered by all. Spending time at his home in the country, which he nicknamed "The 39", was his favorite place to be with family and friends. He loved sitting outside drinking coffee, watching and listening to the birds while being able to see for miles. He enjoyed the West Texas skies and landscapes which influenced many of his paintings. The "Wild West" was a passion for him and he enjoyed it through books and western movies. Jimmy was a gun enthusiast and loved shooting with his family at The 39.

Jimmy was a good man who was loved, is missed, and will always be cherished. He was lovingly referred to as "Sweetie" by his wife, "Dad" by his children and "Pa" by his grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Virgil and Katy Posten, and his sister, Ann Moore. He is survived by his wife of 12 years, Bennie "Baby" Santos Posten; his three children; June (and Cliff) Mainor of Carrollton, Texas, Jerald (and Teresa) Posten of Azle, Texas, and Jenene Holmes of Saginaw, Texas; his four stepchildren, Marie Rubio (and Douglas Henderson), Terrie Delacruz, Christy Delacruz and Benito Delacruz, all of Sweetwater, Texas; his seven grandchildren; Jeron, Johnson, and Madeline Posten, Marcus Ortega, Chandler Holmes, Jeremiah and Elizabeth Mainor; his eleven step-grandchildren, Rebecca, Timothy, Joshua, and Jay Delacruz, Teja McCain, Kiah Delacruz, Desire and Nicholas Emerson, Aubrey, Nana, and Celi Delacruz; his two great-grandchildren; Nixon and Kennedy Ortega, several nieces and cousins.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the American Heart Association.
