Joanne Walker

February 19, 1947 — December 22, 2022

Sweetwater, Texas

On Thursday, December 22, 2022, JoAnne Walker, beloved Mother, Maw, Sister and Mother-in-Law, passed away.

A memorial service will be held 2:00 P.M., Friday, December 30, 2022 at Cate-Spencer & Trent Funeral Home Chapel with Pastor Loran Rule officiating.  Arrangements are under the direction of Cate-Spencer & Trent Funeral  Home.

JoAnne was born on February 19, 1947 to James B.  and Josephine Walker. She was a graduate of Booker T. Washington High School and later went on to work at Simmons Memorial Hospital working towards becoming a nurse until she realized her real passion was working with children.

JoAnne worked and retired from SISD, working for many years as the OCS (On Campus Suspension) teacher and driving the school bus.  "Ms. Walker" as the kids called her, always had words of wisdom and life lessons for the students that found themselves in her classroom or on her school bus.  Ms. Walker impacted many lives of her students, co-workers, peers and anyone she came in contact with.  JoAnne also worked numerous years at IGA and Walmart.  She loved working and talking to people and had a kind word for everyone.

JoAnne's greatest joy in the world came from her grandchildren.  She sang, played, taught, cooked and cared for them.  JoAnne' grandchildren knew if their parents wouldn't do it, their "Maw" would!

Jo Anne was best known for her ability to speak life into people.  She was an outgoing, energetic, full-of-life woman, afraid of nothing and thankful for everything.  JoAnne had a million dollar smile and brought so much happiness with her laughter.

JoAnne was preceded in death by her parents, James B. and Josephine Walker, daughter, Jacqueline, and her brother, Joe Ray Walker.

JoAnne is survived by her son, Tiger Milner and wife Christina of Sweetwater, Texas, sisters, Betty Sue Walker of Sweetwater, Texas, and Betty Nell Arnic and husband Rickey of Lockhart, Texas,  grandchildren, Makenna, Joseph, Kasyn, Felix, Brantlee and Jacqueline Milner and special grandchildren, Jaylee and Edward Figueroa.
