Joe A. Castro, age 94, of San Angelo, Texas, longtime resident of Sweetwater, Texas, passed away on Saturday, February 24, 2024 at Shannon Medical Center.
A rosary will be held 7:00 P.M., Friday, March 1, 2024 at Cate-Spencer & Trent Funeral Home Chapel recited by Victor Rubio, Jr.
Holy Mass of Christian Burial will be held 10:00 A.M., Saturday, March 2, 2024 at Holy Family Catholic Church, 507 Crane Street, Sweetwater, Texas, with Father Josh Gray officiating. Burial will follow at Garden of Memories. Arrangements are under the direction of Cate-Spencer & Trent Funeral Home.
Joe was born on March 1, l929 in Mitchell County, Texas to Abraham and Cipriana Castro. On August 3, 1957, Joe married his love Frances Maldonado in Sweetwater, Texas. Joe and Frances were longtime members of Holy Family Catholic Church where he was an active member of the Knights of Columbus. From his childhood his love and passion was farming. He lived his life cultivating his crops, his family, and his community.
Growing up, Joe learned to work with his hands which prepared him to become a welder and x-ray technician for Industrial Manufacturing. In his later years, Joe returned to the fields where he grew up farming and continued to share his blessings and knowledge with his family. Joe will forever live on by the compassion, determination, and integrity that he instilled in his children and grandchildren.
He is survived by his children, Adelina C. Morales and husband Alfred of San Angelo, Texas, Arthur Castro and wife Sandy of San Antonio, Texas, and Amy Sibert of Killeen, Texas, seven grandchildren, David Morales, Adrian Morales and wife Anna, Brandan Essix and wife Elisa, Laken Castro and fiance Joshua Corcino, Jalen Sibert, Ryan Castro and Ashley Castro, six great grandchildren, Kameron and Ayvah Essix, Amora and Amari Morales, Joshua, Jr. and Lailyn Corcino.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Frances Castro, parents, Abraham and Cipriana Castro, three brothers, Roman Castro, Amador Castro, and Jesus Arenas Castro, Sr., and two sisters, Manuela Sanchez and Eulalia Castro.
Pallbearers will be grandsons.
Honorary pallbearers will be his granddaughters.
