John Luna "Hoppy" Areniboz, age 66, passed away on Thursday, May 22, 2014 at Rolling Plains Memorial Hospital.
A Rosary will be held 7:00 P.M., Friday, May 23, 2014 at Cate-Spencer & Trent Funeral Home Chapel recited by Lupe Medellin.
Holy Mass of Christian Burial will be held 10:00 A.M., Saturday, May 24, 2014 at Holy Spirit Parrish (Immaculate Heart of Mary Catholic Church) with Rev. Charles Okonkwo officiating. Burial will follow at Sweetwater Cemetery. Arrangements are under the direction of Cate-Spencer & Trent Funeral Home.
John was born on May 16, 1948 in Sweetwater, Texas to Martin and Luisa (Luna) Arenivas. He was a member of Holy Spirit Parrish (Immaculate Heart of Mary Catholic Church). He served in the United States Army National Guard for many years. He was an avid Dallas Cowboy fan.
He is survived by five sisters, Lydia Alvarado, Rosa Gomez, Angela Guerrero, all of Sweetwater, Texas, and Ramona Torrez and Mary Pena, both of Grand Prairie, Texas, and numerous nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Martin and Luisa Arenivas, and two brothers, Paul Arenivas and Manuel Arenivas, Sr..
Pallbearers will be Victor Lee Alvarado, Sammy Torrez, Manuel Arenivas, Jr., Mike Ceballos, and Johnny Pena, Jr..
