John V.(Johnny Vaughn) Dudley, age 75, of Abilene, Texas (Former resident of Nolan, Texas), passed away on Wednesday, March 19, 2014 at The Oaks at Radford Hills.
Funeral services will be held 2:00 P.M., Tuesday, March 25, 2014 at Cate-Spencer & Trent Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Vic Meyer officiating. Burial will follow at Slater's Chapel Cemetery. Arrangements are under the direction of Cate-Spencer & Trent Funeral Home.
John Vaughn Dudley was born on September 30, 1938 in Nolan, Texas to John and Lola Lee (Reynolds) Dudley. He married Ina Butler on March 2, 1974 in Abilene, Texas. He was a member of Nolan Baptist Church. He retired from the U.S. Army National Guard. He worked for Walls Mfg. for many years before retiring.
He is survived by his step-daughter, Gayl Mikeska Brotherton Laird and husband Lance Laird and numerous nieces, nephews, and life-long friends.
He was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Ina Butler Dudley, parents, John and Lola Dudley, step-father, Earl Wallis, brother, Quanah Dudley and sister, Joyce Newman.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Hendrick Hospice, 1682 Hickory Street, Abilene, Texas 79601.
Pallbearers will be Don Neel, Mark Morrow, Robert Pieper, Waymon Sowell, James Lovell, and Jackie Trent.
Honorary Pallbearers will be Larry Dudley, Joe Dudley, and Lance Laird.
Family will receive friends at the funeral home on Tuesday, March 25, 2014 from 1:00 - 2:00 P.M..
