Juan S. (Johnny) Rangel, age 73 of Sweetwater, Texas, passed away on Wednesday, September 28, 2016 at Nolan Nursing and Rehab.
A rosary will be held 7:00 P.M., Friday, September 30, 2016 at Cate-Spencer & Trent Funeral Home Chapel recited by family.
Holy Mass of Christian Burial will be held 10:00 A.M., Saturday, October 1, 2016 at Holy Spirit Catholic Parish with Father Nilo Nalugon officiating. Burial will follow at Garden of Memories. Arrangements are under the direction of Cate-Spencer & Trent Funeral Home.
Johnny was born on September 19, 1943 in Sweetwater, Texas to Dionisio Rangel, Sr. and Francisca (Seballos) Rangel. He worked for many years for the City of Sweetwater in the parks department and Texas Department of Transportation before retiring. He was a member of Holy Spirit Catholic Parish. He was a life long musician that played trumpet, drums, and guitar. He hosted a Tejano show for KXOX for a number of years and helped start the Conjunto bank, Los Cuatro Aces.
He is survived by his son, Jeremy Rangel and Carla Perez of Sweetwater, Texas, daughter, Angie Alvarez and husband Sammy, Jr. of Sweetwater, Texas, brother, Dennis Rangel of Sweetwater, Texas, four sisters, Maria Jessica Rangel and Mary Nieto, both of Sweetwater, Texas, Rachael Guerrero of Dallas, Texas, and Lucy Herrera of San Antonio, Texas, nine grandchildren, Kimberley Waller, Michael Rangel, Desirae Rangel, Zachary Perez, Devin Perez, Daven, Isak, Ryan & Diego Alvarez, and five great grandchildren..
He was preceded in death by his parents, Dionisio Rangel, Sr. and Francisca (Seballos) Rangel
Pallbearers will be Nicholas Waller, Zachary Perez, Daven Alvarez, Isak Alvarez, Devin Perez, and Michael Rangel..
