Leigh (Pior) Byrd

Leigh Byrd, age 66, of Sweetwater, Texas, passed away on Wednesday, December 10, 2014 at her residence.
Funeral services will be held 3:00 P.M., Sunday, December 14, 2014 at Fourth & Elm Church of Christ with Mike Crowley officiating. Burial will follow at White Church Cemetery in Taylor County, Texas. Arrangements are under the direction of Cate-Spencer & Trent Funeral Home.
Leigh was born on February 29, 1948 in Sweetwater, Texas to Marshall Neilan and Earlene (Brown) Pior. She was member of Fourth and Elm Church of Christ. She married Jerry Byrd on May 13, 1983 in San Angelo, Texas. She was a self-employed rancher and she also worked for SISD as a special education teacher's aide and a librarian aide. .
She is survived by her husband, Jerry Byrd of Sweetwater, Texas, mother, Earlene Pior of Sweetwater, Texas, daughter, Cari Ellis and husband Mitch of Christoval, Texas, three grandchildren, Zack Ellis, Alyssa Glasgow, and Jade Ellis, one great granddaughter, Aurora Glasgow , sister, Sharon Gabler and husband Larry of Sweetwater, Texas, brother, Neil Pior and wife Tammy of Arlington, Texas, and brother-in-law, Jeff Byrd of Sweetwater, Texas, three nieces, Chelsea, Allison, and Katie and one nephew, Lyle.
She was preceded in death by her father, Marshall Pior, grandson, Jerad Ellis and father-in-law and mother-in-law, Gerald & Pauline Byrd.
Family will receive friends at the funeral home on Friday, December 12, 2014 from 6:00 - 7:30 P.M..
Pallbearers will be Terry Locklar, Bruce Coldiron, Ken Nevins, Gil Cherry, Mike Ault, and Kregg McKenney.
Honorary pallbearer will be Dr. William Morehead.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Cornerstone Christian School, P.O. 719, Sweetwater, Texas 79556.
