Luz S. (Saldivar) Rivera

Luz S. Rivera, age 85, of Sweetwater, Texas, passed away on Wednesday, January 17, 2024 at Rolling Plains Memorial Hospital.

A Rosary will be held 7:00 P.M., Friday, January 19, 2024 at Cate-Spencer & Trent Funeral Home Chapel recited by Victor Rubio, Jr.

Holy Mass of Christian Burial will be held 11:00 A.M., Saturday, January 20, 2024 at Holy Spirit Catholic Parish with Father Michael Udegbunam officiating.  Burial will follow at Garden of Memories.  Arrangements are under the direction of Cate-Spencer & Trent Funeral Home.

Luz was born on March 15, 1938 in Sweetwater, Texas to Manuel and Juana (Espino) Saldivar.  She married Samuel (Sam) T. Rivera on August 18, 1956 in Sweetwater, Texas.  She was a homemaker and a longtime member of Holy Spirit Catholic Parish.

She is survived by her sons, Lance Rivera, Jerry Rivera and Rodney Rivera and wife Rachel, numerous grandchildren and great grandchildren, three brothers, Joe Saldivar, Clemente Saldivar, and Freddie Saldivar and two sisters, Isabel (Liz) Saldivar, and Sara Lara.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Manuel and Juana Saldivar, husband, Samuel "Sam" Rivera, son, Ricky Rivera, and brother Charlie Saldivar.

Pallbearers will be  Buddy Lopez, Brett Rivera, Roman Rivera, Ryan Rivera, Amanda Rivera and Ricky Rivera.
