Lydia Mae Harris, age 93, of Sweetwater, Texas, passed awway on Saturday, March 2, 2013 at her residence.
Funeral Services will be held 2:00 P.M., Tuesday, March 5, 2013 at Cate-Spencer & Trent Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Truman Davis officiating. Burial will follow at Palava Cemetery.
Lydia was born on September 17, 1919 in Alba, Texas to Charlie N. and Thedia (Scogin) Davis. She moved in 1929 with her folks to Palava, Texas until 1939 when they moved to Sweetwater at the beginning of World War II.
She was a high school graduate of Newman High School and graduated from LVN school. She married Lester Harris on Feb. 16, 1948. She worked for Simmons Hospital and Rolling Plains Memorial Hospital as a LVN for many years before retiring. She was a member of Broadway Baptist Church. She was saved at the age of 12 in Wood County, Texas at the Alba Baptist Church in Alba, Texas.
She is survived by her daughter, Linda Jean Duncan and husband Thomas Gene of Sweetwater, Texas; two grandchildren; Annis Smith of Big Spring, Texas and Thomas Gene Duncan, Jr. of Boring, Oregon; three great grandchildren; David Smith, Tony Smith and Tim Smith; all of Big Spring, Texas; sisters-in-law; Virginia Haile of Eula, Texas and Irene Flowers of Victoria, Texas and numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins, including Truman Davis, Pam Stevens, Charles Sharrock, Deana McWilliams, and Carrol Scott.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Charlie N. and Thedia Davis, her husband, Lester Harris; son, Clarence Harris and ten brothers and sisters.
Family will receive friends at the funeral home on Monday, March 4, 2013 from 6-8 PM.
