Manuel Aguilar, Sr.

Manuel Aguilar, Sr., age 88, of Sweetwater, Texas, passed away on Tuesday, September 10, 2024 at his daughter's residence.

A prayer vigil will be held 6:30 P.M., Thursday, September 12, 2024, at Cate-Spencer & Trent Funeral Home Chapel with Deacon David Mendez officiating, followed by a rosary at 7:00 P.M..

Holy Mass of Christian Burial will be held l0:00 A.M., Friday, September 13, 2024, at Holy Spirit Catholic Parish with Father Josh Gray officiating.  Burial will follow at Loraine Cemetery.  Arrangements are under the direction of Cate-Spencer & Trent Funeral Home.

Manuel was born on July 20, 1936 in Roscoe, Texas to Juan and Natalia (Cienega) Aguilar.  He married Petra Rocha on July 20, 1954 in Colorado City, Texas.  He worked for Colorado City Compress and Foam Tex for many years before retiring.  He was a member of Saint Ann's Catholic Church in Colorado City, Texas.

He is survived by two sons, Adam Aguilar and Marcos Aguilar, both of Sweetwater, Texas; ten daughters, Sylvia Cook and husband James of Wichita Falls, Texas, Martha Heredia and husband Ricky of Sweetwater, Texas, Natalie Aguilar of Colorado City, Texas, Lydia Cadenhead and husband Robbie of Big Spring, Texas,  Estela Luna and husband Manuel of Abilene, Texas, Crestina Ginkinger, Cindy Salazar and husband David,  Laura Aguilar, Delia Gonzales and Elia Aguilar all of Colorado City, Texas; numerous grandchildren, great grandchildren, great great grandchildren; brother, Victor Aguilar and sister, Sanjuana Aguilar.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Petra Aguilar; son, Manuel (Beaver) Aguilar, Jr.; daughters, Natalia Aguilar and Elida Aguilar; grandsons, Robert Jaye Emerson and Rico Diego Campos; parents, Juan and Natalia Aguilar; three brothers and two sisters.

Pallbearers will be Adam Aguilar, Adrian Aguilar, Isaac Aguilar, Marcos Aguilar, Steven Cook,  James Cook, Jr., and Xander Aguilar.
