Maria de Jesus ( Jessie) Rangel, age 78, of Sweetwater, Texas, passed away Saturday, October 28, 2017 at Las Colinas of Westover, San Antonio, Texas following a long illness
A rosary service will be held at 7:00 PM. Wednesday, November 1, 2017 at Cate-Spencer & Trent Funeral Home Chapel recited by Aida Pantoja.
Holy Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:00 AM. Thursday, November 2, 2017 at Holy Spirit Catholic Parish, 511 W. Alabama, with Father Nilo Nalugon officiating. Burial will follow at Garden of Memories. Arrangements are under the direction of Cate-Spencer & Trent Funeral Home.
Jessie was born June 16, 1939, to Dionicio Rangel, Sr. and Francisca (Seballos) Rangel in Sweetwater, Texas. She was a lifelong resident of Sweetwater where she attended Holy Spirit Catholic Church and was a member of the Guadalupanas Society. In her youth, she was a choir member at Immaculate Heart of Mary Parish and a member of the daughters of Mary. Jessie worked as a school cafeteria supervisor for Sweetwater Middle School, and later as a caseworker for Outreach Health Services. She loved music, cooking and caring for others.
She is survived by one brother, Dennis Rangel of Sweetwater, Tx; and three sisters, Mary Nieto, of Sweetwater, Texas, Rachael Guerrero of Sachse, Texas and Lucy Herrera of San Antonio, Texas. She is also survived by six nieces and four nephews.
Jessica was preceded in death by her parents, and one brother, Juan S. (Johnny) Rangel.
Pallbearers will be Louis Guerrero, Jr., Marcus Herrera, Jeremy Rangel, Ryan Petty, Tristen Nieto, and Issac Alvarez.
