Marie Louise Mitchell Leach, age 85, of Sweetwater, Texas, passed away on Saturday, July 1, 2017 at Rolling Plains Memorial Hospital.

Graveside services will be held 10:30 A.M., Monday, July 3, 2017 at Roscoe Cemetery with Rev. Chester McCown and Rev. Keith Hills officiating.   Burial will follow. Arrangements are under the direction of Cate-Spencer & Trent Funeral Home.

Family will receive friends at the funeral home on Sunday, July 2, 2017 from 5:00 - 7:00 PM.

Marie was born on November 6, 1931 in Roscoe, Texas to Willie Henry and Norma Marie (Hackfeld) Backhaus. She married Howard E. Mitchell and he preceded her in death. She married Lyman Ward (Tex) Leach, Jr. on November 18, 1997 at Faith Lutheran Church in Sweetwater, Texas. She worked as a registered county school nurse for Nolan County Schools for over 30 years before retiring. She was a longtime member of Faith Lutheran Church and also LWML. She was a devoted Christian woman who loved her Lord , her family and friends.

She is survived by her husband, Tex Leach of Sweetwater, Texas, son, Bryan Mitchell of Midland, Texas, daughter, Janet Fagan of Midland, Texas, granddaughters, Amanda Fagan and Megan Mitchell Ben and husband Soakha, great granddaughter, Allison Fagan, one great grandson on the way, and sister, Leona Tucker of Fort Stockton, Texas.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Bill and Norma Backhaus, first husband, Howard E. Mitchell, grandson, Clifton Mitchell, and brother-in-law, Howard Tucker.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the favorite charity of one's choice.
