Martha Louise Wood

Martha Louise Wood, age 79, of Sweetwater, Texas, passed away at her residence on Friday, April 25, 2025 surrounded by family and friends.

Her wishes were to be cremated. A Memorial Service will be held 10:00 A.M., Saturday, May 3, 2025 at Trinity Baptist Church with Dr. J.T. Thornton officiating. Arrangements are under the direction of Cate-Spencer & Trent Funeral Home.

Martha was born on May 23, 1945 in Dalhart, Texas to Woodrow and Irene (Fuson) Nelson. She was a graduate of Dumas High School. She married the love of her life, Tommy Wood on December 4, 1965. She was a member of Trinity Baptist Church. She worked as a store manager for McDorman Furniture before retiring.

She is survived by her husband, Tommy Wood of Sweetwater, Texas; two sons, Johnny Donald Wood and Tommy Wood, Jr., both of Minnesota and adopted son, Cuatro Byrne and wife Brandy, of Champion, Texas; adopted daughter, Shelby Coldiron and husband Jason of Blackwell, Texas; grandchildren, Cheyenne Nicole Wood, Cody James Wood, Felicia Wood, Dakota Wood, Bandera Skoal Wood and Jesse Garcia with great grandson Fletcher Neely and great granddaughter, Lainee Wood, Blade Shaner Wood, Alton Coldiron, Caleb Sirmons, Orrin Sirmons, Camo Coldiron, Mason Coldiron and several great grandchildren; two brothers, Jimmy Lloyd Nelson and Lannie Ray Nelson and wife Donna.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Woodrow and Irene Nelson, daughter, Tammy Wood, sister, Sheila Sinclair, and sister-in-law, Debbie Nelson.
