Martha Lucille (Mama Lucy) Hall, age 102, of Sweetwater, Texas, passed away on Wednesday, February 26, 2014 at Nolan Nursing and Rehab.
Graveside services will be held 3:00 P.M., Saturday, March 1, 2014 at Garden of Memories with Dr. Fred Meeks officiating. Burial will follow. Arrangements are under the direction of Cate-Spencer & Trent Funeral Home.
Lucille was born on January 11, 1912 in Lindale, Texas. to Oscar and Axia (Vickery) Wells. She was one of seven children. She grew up in Quanah, Texas and graduated from Quanah High School. She was very active in sports and served two years as the captain of the girl's basketball team.
Lucille married J Z Harvey in June 1931 and they moved to Sweetwater in 1936. She was blessed with two children, Martha Harvey and James Harvey. During those early years they and their family joined First Baptist Church in Sweetwater and Martha Lucille worked at Bowen Drug in the cosmetic and gift department. Mr. Harvey passed away in June of 1972. She then married Young Hall in May of 1981. He passed away in June of 1989.
Mrs. Hall became a resident of Nolan Nursing and Rehab in November of 2005. Since that time, she had made many friends, and enjoyed visits with her family, friends, staff, pets and children. She will truly be missed.
She is survived by her children, Martha Harvey Crawford and husband Jerry from Lubbock, Texas, and James Harvey and wife Jane of Abilene, Texas, four grandchildren, Jack Crawford of Lubbock, Texas, Kay Waters and husband Rick of Lubbock, Texas, Dr. Cameo Harvey and husband Baker Bryant, and Case Harvey of Abilene, Texas, seven great grandchildren, Dr. Stephanie Waters, Dr. Jarod Waters, Lindsey Waters, Dr. Blake Crawford, Sterling Bryant, Keaton Bryant, and Samantha Harvey, two great-great grandchildren, Mia Harlan and Olivia Crawford, one sister, Dorothy Whittington of Abilene, Texas, and numerous nieces, nephews and a host of friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Oscar and Axia Wells, and five brothers.
