Mary Isabel (Holt) Ballew

Mary Isabel Holt Balllew, age 100, of Waco, Texas, (Former resident of Sweetwater, Texas and Brady, Texas) passed away on Sunday, January 24, 2021 at Arbor House in Waco, Texas.

Funeral services will be held 9:30 A.M., Tuesday, January 26, 2021 at Cate-Spencer & Trent Funeral Home Chapel with her son-in-law, Dr. George Loutherback officiating.

A private graveside will be held at Garden of Memories with family members officiating.  Burial will follow.  Arrangements are under the direction of Cate-Spencer & Trent Funeral Home.

Mary was born on November 8, 1920 in Granger, Texas to Holland and Emma Cleora (Morrisset) Holt.   She married Audrey Hoyt Ballew on September 20, 1940 in Abilene, Texas.  Mary was a  homemaker and a charter member of Trinity Baptist Church .  Mrs. Ballew was an avid student of the Bible and taught adult Sunday School and Monday Bible Study until the age of 98.  She and her husband owned and operated Sweetwater Broom Company.

Survivors include her daughters and sons-in-law, Sherry and Bill Barsch of Levelland, Texas and Cindy and George Loutherback of Waco, Texas, grandchildren, Allyson Foster and husband Aaron, Stephanie David, and Kyle Barsch and wife Kelly, great grandchildren, Eileen Barsch, Evan Barsch, Ellie Foster and Hannah Foster.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Audrey Hoyt Ballew, son, Andrew Holt Ballew, her parents, two brothers, Clarence & JB Holt and sister-in-law, Pauline Ballew.

Memorials may be made to Andy (Andrew) Ballew Scholarship at Hardin Simmons in Abilene, Texas or Trinity Baptist Church in Sweetwater, Texas or First Baptist Church of Brady, Texas.
