Mary J. (Kirby) Knox

December 22, 1945 — July 17, 2011

Mary J. Knox, age 65, of Sweetwater, Texas, passed away on Sunday, July 17, 2011 at Rolling Plains Memorial Hospital.

Funeral Services will be held 2:00 P.M., Wednesday, July 20, 2011 at First Baptist Church with Rev. Phillip Thomas officiating. Burial will be at Enoch Cemetery in Gilmer, Texas.

Graveside Services will be held 11:00 A.M., Thursday, July 21, 2011 at Enoch Cemetery in Gilmer, Texas with Bishop Lance Seahorn officiating.  Arrangements are under the direction of Cate-Spencer & Trent Funeral Home.

Mary was born December 22, 1945 in  Grand Prairie, Texas to William Cullen and  Cora Elizabeth Kirby.  She married Jay Knox on May 21, 1962 in Arlington, Texas.  She worked for S.P. Richards as an office manager.  She was a member of First Baptist Church.

She is survived by her husband, Jay Knox of Sweetwater; one daughter, Kelly Pilcher and husband Cary of Gilmer, Texas; two sons, Tracy Knox and wife Carisa of San Antonio, Texas; and Ashley Knox and wife Janice of McKinney, Texas; seven grandchildren, Trevor, Nathan, Ty and Coy Pilcher, Frannie and Emily Knox and Charlotte Knox; one brother - William Kirby of Burleson, Texas; two sisters, Doris Beniot of Burleson, Texas; and Billie Russell of Sweetwater, Tx; Sister-in-law, Marna Allen and husband Johnny of Roscoe, Texas; several nieces and nephews, and special friends, Charlie Broadwell, Connie, Treat and Debbie.

She was preceded in death by her parents, William Cullen and Cora Elizabeth Kirby, one brother, Jimmy Kirby and one sister Vivian Summerhour.

Family will receive friends at the funeral home on Tuesday, July 19, 2011 from 6:00 - 8:00 P.M.
