Morris L. (Coon) McDonald, age 81, of Trent, Texas passed away on Tuesday, April 19, 2011 at his son's residence.

Funeral Services will be held 10:00 A.M., Friday, April 22, 2011 at Cate-Spencer & Trent Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Eric Von Atzigen officiating. Burial will follow at Nolan Cemetery. Arrangements are under the direction of Cate-Spencer & Trent Funeral Home.

Morris L. McDonald was born May 22, 1929 in Old Community of North Dora of SE Nolan County to Earl and Ann Lee (McLaughlin) McDonald. He graduated from Divide High School in 1946. One of his memories was being the Quarterback and Captain of the 1945 District and Bi-District with a total score of 233 to Opponents 66. They were to play Water Valley for Regional but it was cancelled. He attended McMurry, Texas Tech and Sul Ross College. He was drafted in the U.S. Army and took basic training at Camp Roberts, California. He married Mary Jane Lauw on July 18, 1952 in Blackwell, Texas. He worked for T.U. Electric for thirty five years before retiring.

He is survived by children, Jan Roebuck and husband Robert Patak of Dallas, Texas; Jody Fletcher and husband Gary of Austin, Texas; and Paul McDonald of Sweetwater, Texas; grandchildren, Daniel (Skeeter) McDonald; and Jennifer (Niffy) Parker and husband John; (Mary Jane and Coon adopted Skeeter and Niffy at a young age..); other grandchildren; Jill Asbill and husband Brett; Jack McDonald; Jesse McDonald; Hannah Rekieta; and Jordan Patak; four great grandchildren; brother, Keith McDonald of Ranger, Texas; and many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Earl and Ann Lee McDonald; his wife, Mary Jane McDonald; and brother, Weldon Earl McDonald.

Family will receive friends at the funeral home on Thursday, April 21, 2011 from 6:00-7:30 PM.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Hendrick Hospice, 1682 Hickory, Abilene, Texas 79601.
