Mozelle Stewart, age 95, of Richardson, Texas, (Former Resident of Sweetwater, Texas) passed away on Wednesday, May 20, 2015 at a private care facility in Richardson, Texas.
Funeral services will be held 11:00 A.M., Friday, May 22, 2015 at Cate-Spencer & Trent Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Malcolm Brown and Dr. Merlin Morrow officiating. Burial will follow at Roscoe Cemetery. Arrangements are under the direction of Cate-Spencer & Trent Funeral Home.
Mozelle was born on October 10, 1919 in Blue Ridge, Texas to Lural and Jessie (Younse) Dement. She graduated from Texas Woman's University with a Bachelor's Degree. She was a school teacher for many years in which she worked as a librarian at Baylor University. She married J. D. Stewart on June 29, 1946 in Waco, Texas. She was a resident of Three Fountains Retirement Home in Dallas for 13 years where she led a very active life. She was a member of the Professional Women Organization which is a service organization that helps women in need to obtain educations.
She is survived by two grandchildren, Jason Stewart and Lena Stewart, both of Fort Worth, Texas, two great grandchildren, nieces and nephews, including Sandy Peters of Rockwall, Texas, Jim Marcum of Dallas, Texas and Freda Kelly of Melissa, Texas, and several cousins, including Ernestine Edmiston and Ann Teaff, both of Roscoe, Texas.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Lural and Jessie Dement, her husband, Rev. J.D. Stewart , son, Jay Stewart , three sisters, Estea Lee Hawkins, Mary Margaret Marcum, and Hazel Pearce and brother, Bobby Dement.
Pallbearers will be Jim Marcum, Leonard "Pete" Peters, Mickey Peters, Jason Stewart, Doyle Edmiston, and Henry Parrott.
